Indian Summer

{ummm. ok oregon. ok}

There I was.
Guzzling down a pumpkin spice latte and flipping through H&M's Fall collection.

I thought it was Fall. September. Crisp. Cold.

And then I found myself sitting in Reser Stadium for some college football action.
No. Sitting isn't the right word.
melting.
That's it.

When I stood up, I'm pretty sure everyone around me breathed a sigh of relief when they
realized the huge spot on my shorts was only sweat.

no, my water didn't break.

But I'm sure when it does, I will be in a very public place.
This is my life we're talking about.
Then I'll draw a cartoon about it, and we can all have a good
laugh.
bada bing bada boom

Love, Peace, and Iced Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

xoxo

  2. Oh, Oregon. Such a weather tease :) although I was raised a ducks fan, that picture made me homesick...I haven't been back to the willamette valley since 2009!

  3. What the heck? It's warmer there than it is here! How is that possible? Do-do-do-do (Twilight Zone music)

  4. Loved the story- but sorry for your misfortune! I sure hope it starts to really feel like Fall soon! This heat is a killer!

  5. um, yeah. today in southern OR it was the third hottest place in the country, after the ovens of central NorCal...and Death Valley. (at least that's what weather.com showed and i believe it!)

  6. love love OR. Used to spend my summers in Newberg. I do wish we had 90 degree weather here in AZ though- it's been in the 100's for way too long!

  7. Sweating....is fine if done in a private place? haha as I grow older, my body is sweating more...to be honest, sweat is good for the skin! (Or so I've heard..)

  8. Oh no at the thought of your water breaking somewhere embarrassingly public! I will cross my fingers for you that you manage to avoid that happening. :O

  9. Haha. That is hot. Also, I didn't know that you are in Oregon! I lived in Oregon til I was eight and that's where my parents grew up and fell in love so both of my grandparents live there. I got to take my husband there this summer and he fell in love. We are hoping to spend lots of time there throughout the years...maybe even move there eventually!

  16. Those temps look like FL! But we suffocate in humidity. I can only dream of Fall for it won't be coming anytime soon here.

Thankkkk goodness it was just sweat!

  17. even if your water does break in a public place, you have a perfectly good excuse. it's not something you can control, like peeing your pants when you laugh too hard. so don't even worry about it.

and send some of that warmth this way. it went from like 85 on saturday to low 60's and drizzling rain yesterday and today... this is not my idea of a beautiful autumn.

  18. hysterical! Knowing my luck, when I get pregnant my water will break in a very public place too lol.

  19. It's warmer in Portland than in Abilene right now, I can't believe it! Enjoy your Indian Summer, cause we all know that when the sun abandons Oregon for roughly 8 months of the year... XO, Katie

  21. The weather in the south east likes to tease us too! It is cooler this week, but I know it will still get hot in October!

  22. Oh yuck. It's chilly in Ohio today! And I'm savoring every bit of this, because I know that in a week or so it's going to get hot again. We have the strangest weather in the Northeast. 62 today, and Friday it was 95. At least you have some sunshine! =)

  23. I don't know how you managed to sit outside at that game. I seriously have been avoiding the sun as much as possible. This baby is so hot inside of me!

  24. yikes! that's how it is here to in sd. that's awful being pregnant in hot weather. it's about 5x as bad. fall will come soon.

  25. Oh man! I thought it was hot where I was cuz we were camping (thus, no ac, etc). But then I got home and it's WORSE! I took my sisters to their back-to-school dealio and everyone I hugged looked at their hand that was soaking after patting my back and I had to individually tell them it's okay for them to wipe it in front of me.

  26. Shew back in the 90's. It's been in the 70's here this week & supposed to get in the 80's by next week. I really hope we are done with the 90's though. I'm so ready to bring on Fall :)

  27. Pumpkin Spice Lattes and cute boots are what make the departure of summer a little easier for me.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  28. We're having the same miserable weather here in Cali. I thought I'd come back from vacation and it would be fall but no. I was wrong. It's high 80s/low90s for at least the next ten days. I don't think I'll be wearing sweaters until well into October, maybe November. Sadsies.
