A Day in the Life

{me happy when me have food. clearly.}

We're house-sitting for my parents this week, and it looks a little something like this

{FRIDAY}

6:17 Daniel leaves for work
8:20 I wake up. Carpe Diem.
8:21 Check all major social networking sites. Carpe Diem?
9:00 Shower. Makeup. Clothes. Now I'm seizing the day.
9:40 I'm ready! Off I gooooooo.

10:00 Realize I am stranded. All day. Alone. No car.
10:05 No worries. A lazy day full of reading, blogging, and eating sounds divine.
11:00 reading: check. blogging: check.
11:01 eating time.
11:03 Staring at empty cupboards. Ahhh, that's why my parents left us grocery money.
11:15 Gear up for a few more hours of fasting.
12:18 Must. Eat. Something.
12:25 Polish off 1/2 a can of baked beans. Out of sheer desperation.
5:30 The last several hours have been a blur. Fast. Slow. Oh the hunger. Oh the inhumanity.
5:32 Daniel is finally home. I'm sprawled on the bed. A can of beans on the nightstand. Not a good look for anyone.
5:45 We are both indecisive about dinner. Stay in or go out?
6:10 Still weighing the pros and cons of our options.
6:27 Daniel gets distracted by ESPN.
6:30 I throw a pillow at his face.
6:31 Taco Salad sounds good to him.
6:32 Not to me.
6:33 Orange Chicken sounds good to him.
6:34 Nope.
6:35 I don't know what sounds good to me.
6:40 How about an orange chicken taco salad. with chocolate ice cream. can someone deliver that?
7:05 I am beyond. Just beyond.
7:20 Grocery store it is.
7:40 Finally in the store, pushing around a cart full of chocolate milk, peach juice, cookies, and avocados.
7:50 Wandering aimlessly up and down the aisles.
8:00 Over it. To Red Robin we go.
8:13 Parking lot is full. 30 minute wait.
8:14 I almost give up. Can't do it. A can of beans, Daniel. A can. of. beans.
8:15 Two words snap me back into reality. Bottomless Fries.
8:16 I can do this.
9:35 Belly is filling up with fries, chicken, and strawberry lemonades.

If you read this and it sounds a bit dramatic, well...it's cause it was.
And then Daniel had to run out and grab me TUMS from the nearest gas station at 1:30 in the morning.

Stud. Hubs.

xoxo

  1. Holy moly. That is horrible. :(

This should teach you a valuable lesson: Never travel without your own stockpile of snacks.

Couldn't you have had something delivered for lunch, though, if you could have had it delivered for dinner?

  2. omg - I completely understand how serious this is! also thanks for reminding me that I need to buy Tums. Sunday's marathon of buffalo chicken dip followed by chocolate ice cream + sprinkles did not make my tummy happy ;)

  8. I can't believe you survived on a can of beans!!! I seriously can't go more than 3 hours without food, unless I'm sleeping. You deserve a major pat on the back for this. And now I want some bottomless fries...mmmm. Xo, Katie

  13. Bahaha. The sad thing is this would be insanely tragic for me and I'm not even pregnant!! We always have to make sure I'm going to be fed at some point or I turn into this crazy woman when I'm hungry. Ridiculous.

  18. hahahah this reminds me so much of my brother... he is so stinkin skinny because if there's nothing readily available to eat, he just won't. I need to adopt that attitude.

We had Red Robin Saturday night... waited in line for over 30 minutes. All because of those fries.
