PSA 2012

a friendly blogger-hood reminder

...

for the love of everything holy and pinterest,
please turn off the new captcha.

if we don't put our foot down, when will it end?
I envision, years from now, our children trying to leave their "love it!" and "follow me, and I'll follow you!" comments on blogs around the world,
only to be met with the brand new 100 piece puzzle captcha.

that, my fellow bloggericans, is a world I don't want to see.

show word verification for comments?
turn that "yes" into "no"
and
that frown upside down

Vote Baby Bean 2047!

xoxo

  1. Thank you! I've practically given up trying to comment on posts more than once because I can't read the bloody captcha!

Also, Bean, you've got my vote.

  2. Oh my word how annoying! Like what are the chances that it's going to be robot typing in a comment? Or a pet? Or whoever else you're trying to prevent from commenting on your blog.

    Get. Rid. Of it. People.

  3. a.men. And if those people just happen to actually get a few spam comments, they can just go delete them. It's a few seconds of work for them compared to MINUTES trying to read those damn things for all of us.

  4. I've been preaching this on Twitter for a week now--the new captcha is SO DIFFICULT!!! I haven't had mine on for a year, and spam comments VERY RARELY get through. Since I approve all comments, I just don't approve those. WAY better.

  5. no kidding...i hate those things...though I think it would be really funny if, when I hit "post comment" on this page I were greeted with one! you should do that. just for me. even though you have no idea who i am and by now your probably getting really annoyed with this guy who thinks hes funny and witty but really hes just kind of annoying....but your still a little intrigued. are you still reading this? cause if so you've made it way farther than most people. I cant even get peole to listen to me tak for this long. Im pretty sure your in love with me now, and though I'll bet your a lovely person, I am married and we can never be.....but we will always have today and no one can take that from us......

  12. Oh my gosh THANK YOU! It's so horrible! You cannot read it and what's with the accents?! So annoying. Why did it need to be changed in the first place?!

  13. I just tweeted this post. I HATE the captcha b.s. and whenever it pops up I'm seriously tempted to just give up and delete my would-be comment. It's like my words are being held hostage until I figure out what the eff blogger wants me to type!

Also, can we have a psa about connecting your email to your account so we can respond to comments via email? :)

  17. Thanks for the reminder. I didn't even realize I still had my word verification turned on. However, I had to switch back to the "old interface" to turn it off. Is there a way to do it on the new Blogger?
