Friday Favorites: Cartography

I don't know about you, but lately, I have been sooooo ready to travel. We were out of the country almost 6 months ago, and now I'm beginning to get antsy again. I'm the type of person that loves change and enjoys experiencing something new. There is nothing better to me than living out of a suitcase, visiting loved ones, creating memories, exploring new places, and adapting to different cultures. Oh, and hotel shampoo makes my day, I'm weird like that. It's like I'm having cabin fever in my own city! Doesn't even have to be an international destination either. Doesn't even have to be a plane ride away, for goodness sakes. Train, car, bike, hot air balloon, segway. I'm ready to go! Wait. Reminder to self: Passport name change ASAP. Ok. Then I'll be ready to go!

To curb some of my wanderlust appetite, my Friday Favorites this week are map-inspired. I hope it inspires you to reflect on the places you've been and parts of the world your feet still have left to touch.

Ok. Got that out of my system for now! {And that last one is true}. Oregon has my heart no matter where we go. For sure.
I'm still scheming up travel plans though. It's who I am!

Where are you dreaming of?

New Series Kick-Off

{A new series focusing on How-To}

Today: A Quick Natural Makeup/Hair Tutorial

Hello lovelies!

I don't know about you, but sometimes I like to wear makeup and look like I'm NOT wearing makeup, if you know what I mean. Especially these past few weeks of working out {every.single.day.} and my makeup ends up dripping off my face anyway. Eww. With this look, I can have a fresh face without spending a lot of time and effort, and in the evening can add some liner, a smokey eye, and a dark lip for a night out. If you do wear a lot of makeup, this can be a great way to not feel so "naked" and give your skin a breather in the process.

Here it is!

{Good Morning Bright Eyes}

{a little brow powder for definition}
{MAC Bronzing Powder in Golden}

{my winter-white- skin saver}
{focus on areas where the sun naturally hits}

{NARS Blush in Orgasm. yep}
{light pink glow}
{a few swipes}

{white liner to open up eyes}
{MK Eye Primer}
{Stila custom palette}

{Stila Eyeshadow in Kitten}
{Curl eyelashes for more "awake" eyes}
{a little shimmer}

{DiorShow Waterproof Mascara}

{Classic mascara-face}

{easy peasy}

{EOS lip balm in Summer Fruit}

{love this stuff}

{Blow Beach Blow texturizing mist}
{Spray and scrunch wet hair to get beach-y hair}

{all done in mere minutes. hooray}

Hope you enjoyed this 1st edition of How Now Brown Cow! I'd love to hear if you have any quick/natural makeup tips and tricks of your own!

Happy {lovely and lively} Thursday to you!

Heartbeat: Rwanda

Sometimes I forget that I once called Africa my home-away-from-home. That I spent four gloriously fulfilling, challenging, life-altering, and plain ol' happy months in The Land of a Thousand Hills. It was stretching and completely foreign in every sense of the word. Night and day. I can remember after returning to the states, I went to a local grocery store and was overwhelmed with the selection. In Rwanda, if you went to the market to buy bananas, you had two choices; (A). the small ripe yellow ones, or, (B). the small rotten brown ones. Easy enough!

Sometimes I miss that simplicity. The genuine warmth and relational aspect of a culture so ingrained with the will to overcome and rise above extreme adversity. Out of Genocide. HIV/AIDS. Orphans. Widows. Corruption. Poverty. Moving onward to hope and restoration.

Sometimes it seems so long ago that I was there. The transition, arrival, adapting, and goodbye all mesh into a dreamy existence.

So I look at pictures.

And then I remember.

a little funny thing

Meet Ickle and Lardee. They have little adventures and I like to read about them on their bloggity-blog. Maybe you would to? Why yes, they are two tiny teeth. Full of gumption and whim-wham though. I kind of like that.

Happy February 1st!

(all of your lovely comments from THE wedding post yesterday are still brightening up my day today. It's like a roll-over of brightening.)

Thanks loves!

P.S. Tonight is another Blazers game for us. If you haven't noticed yet, we are kind of fan(atic)s. I won't forget my camera battery this time though. Oh yeah. Last game, we had great seats, I finally bought my $5 Strawberry Lemonade I had been eyeing for months, AND we were sitting behind Michael Jordan. Oh the irony.
