Birthday Boy

{pumpkin pan-smash-cake thing}

The Bean, my sweet little semi-baby bean boy has officially lived a full year in this crazy oregon world of ours.
He's learned how to roll, crawl, scoot, stand, kiss, high five, fake cry to get what he wants, and make everyone's day a little brighter in general.

This time last year, Daniel and I were sitting in our hospital suite, eating Burgerville and wondering what the heck we'd gotten ourselves into.

Thankfully we are better at eating cheeseburgers rather than at making plans.

We'll be forever grateful that what we've gotten into is kind of the best thing ever.

Happy Birthday Josiah James!

Closing Time

{making photo booth props instead of packing. sorry, not sorry}

The moving process has officially started this week, which in our world means letting The Bean go to town on the bookshelf he's been eyeing for the past 3 months and pull down as many paperbacks as his chubby fingers can.
We then stack said books into a box,
so he can crawl over, stand up, and start taking them all back out.

At that rate, we'd be lucky to move out November of 2037.
Thankfully, the discovery of a stale cheerio and two plastic hangers distracted him for the rest of the night.

It's all about the little things for babies too.

And the fact that he's a crawling-standing-book-throwing-machine is an all too constant reminder of the long days and short years time warp phenomenon we've got going on.

We'll be celebrating his {this was the shortest year in the history of years ever} first birthday in a few weeks, which in my world means plenty of chocolate fueled pinterest binges to help me cope, I mean, plan.

wahhhh.

Twenty Four Hour Vacation

We just returned from a spontaneous middle-of-the-week holiday, (emphasis on "day"), to Sunriver.

{Courtesy of two of our most favorite people, The Bean's Godparents}

Emphasis on "holi" too.
Holy moly, that sunshine felt good.
I'm thinking next week, same time same place?

Choosy Moms Choose .GIF

SuperBean

Over the weekend, we learned a scary tale.
Perfect for telling around the next campfire,
or to anyone with an unrelenting bout of baby fever.

It's called,

"The Daylight Savings Sunday In Which Your Child Begins His Morning At Four O' Heck No Clock"

{shout out to benjamin franklin, late football games, and half a dilly bar for creating that perfect trifecta}

Pro: I had plenty of time to actually do my hair before church*
Con: I had pleeeeeeeenty of time.

*In this case, any pro involving my flat iron meeting the hairs on my head definitely wins.

...

So, maybe my version of day-seizing today aspires to involve crossing a few (hundred) things off of my to-do list. Realistically, more like one thing. Really realistically, half a thing. Or maybe it will be spent admiring my unwashed yet slightly bedhead infused post-styled mane in the mirror and sharing another dilly bar with The Bean.
Somehow in my mind, they are all of equal importance?

Whatever you're up to, I hope it's full of silver linings and good hair and brings you as much joy as a giggly baby flying into a pile of fluffy pillows.

Smashing

{some things in life you just can't blog}

"Thankful" is the understatement of the century this November as we gear up for The Bean's 1st birthday.
{plus moving and turkey and mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie}

Amidst the chaos though, I've been finding pockets of time to take the "That" Mom walk down memory lane and work on his little smash book.

{"Smash Book": a number of sheets of paper bound together with copious amounts of washi tape, newborn photos and 87% of my heart squeezed in between}

...

Any other smash/scrap booker journal-y people out there? Or is your blog the alpha keeper of memories?
