A Bedroom for the Bean

I guess if I had to pick a descriptive theme for the Bean's room, it would be: "Shabby Sports Chic."
It's full of the less-girly trinkets from my childhood, flea market finds, pieces from travels abroad, and, of course, those wooden toys that are supposedly handmade by Norwegian tree elves known for their mystical educational properties.

But above all else, stands his basketball hoop and cars and books and animal farm with sheep, cows, pigs, goats, horses, lions, elephants, and a few dinosaurs.

His room theme is really more like this: "Basically, all things boy, all over the floor, all of the time."

Lots of Bedhead 'Round These Parts

Some days I eat chocolate croissants and try on $900 pairs of shoes.
And some days, I become a human pillow for a clingy koala bear toddler who loves all things mama all the time all the where.

Especially, when I'm on the toilet.

{Apparently, the most important and best and terrifying things in the Bean's life happen in the 10 seconds that I need to use the bathroom}

Fur lined house slippers and a handful of dark chocolate chips have been the most glamorous part of my week.
Who can blame him, if I had six teeth bursting through my gums, plus the flu...I'd probably want to hug myself too.
Thankfully, I've been able to catch some "me" time here and there.
Even take a relaxing shower; the kind where you soak up every drop of hot water because you can.
You're worth it.
You're the mama.

And you were just puked on.

I'm sure the Bean felt bad about it too.
He's gonna empty his piggy bank in 25 years, and buy me those fancy shoes.
Or just give me a few snuggles here and there, for the rest of my life.
That'll do.

Home Hearted

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple, I found myself furtively stealing glances toward every fur-lined stroller filled with miniature michelin man babies. Rosy cheeked and puffy arms sticking straight out as they strollered through an icy Manhattan.
Especially the Upper West Side.
It was like a Norman Rockwell painting.

O.M.O.
{oh my ovaries}

There was this particular instance involving French {FRENCH!} twin {Really?} toddler {C'mon!} boys {For the love!}, decked from head to toe in Zara, and having a snowball fight in Central Park with their grandparents.

I wanted to be in that.
As the mom.
The grandma.
Heck.
Even the snowball.

Check please?!

...

Needless to say,

it's good to go
but it's
great to come home.

DIY: Faux Bear Skin Rug

{ka-boom}

Since the main floor of our house is all hardwood, we've had to dive full on into the world of fuzzy socks with those grippy dots on the bottom, house slippers, and rugs.

The Bean's room {toes} especially needed some warmth.
It's a vast sea of cold for someone who wants to, but can't, wear footed pajamas 24-7.
Originally, I made a few of those knock-off Ikea sheepskin rugs to throw in there.
But those are white.
And the Bean is the Bean.
I might as well hand him one to use as toilet paper, cause life around here is nowhere near a clean, white, Ikea magazine.

Hence, the deepdarkdarkinexpensivelyaestheticallypleasingblack bear skin rug!

My feet kind of want one too.

...

{Details}

< Three yards of fabric will make two good sized rugs. {I bought mine at JoAnn's with a 50% off coupon}
< Seal the edges with a hot glue gun, or fabric glue to prevent future shedding. {Dritz Fray Check}
< Feeling super domestic? Line the back with a non-slip grip pad.

Now, This, is My Kind of Valentine

I received this excel-spreadsheet love letter in my inbox the other day, and I've been googly-eyed and twitterpated ever since.

Forget Shakespeare and Hallmark,
I mean, just look at that Food column!

{Brunch is my Love Language}

So, whaddya say N.Y.C?
 Thursday evening?

It's a date!
