Counting Down

{a few grainy listing photos}

We've officially signed our lives away, (and thankfully, at a price where we don't have to sell The Bean to the mortgage company), into the welcoming floorboards of a 92 year old bungalow.
It's chock full of character, glass doorknobs, and built-ins,
as well as modern-nenity, stainless steel appliances and air conditioning.
These are a few of my favorite thiiiiiiings.

As in, it is totally remodeled.

There were moments in our house hunting saga that we almost jumped into the land of major renovations, (a.k.a the land of spending the next three years worth of weekends at Home Depot).

Our  credentials aren't too "terrible." Daniel worked construction during his adolescent summers,
 and I...
have read plenty of "Young House Love" posts
AND watched six seasons of "Flipping Out," thank you very much.

According to my calculations,
our combined talents would definitely equal one solid handyman jack-of-all-trades trial-by-error kind of human.
yes. definitely.
probably.
dear Lord, hopefully.

The delusions of unfinished basement after unfinished basement grandeur were evolving into reality.

Until this house popped up.

Then we were all like, "haha, remember when we wanted to knock stuff down and rebuild it?! And that one time, we were going to tear, like, physically tear things up, with our hands?! And work, haha, oh man, we were going to work, on the WEEKENDS?!"
"I even wrote it down in my diary...laughed at it later that night!"

seriously.
Thank you Jesus for this homey home!

{We'll be getting the keys in a few weeks, just in time for Thanksgiving and Baby Bean's 1st birthday and Christmas!}

xoxo

YAY!! Congratulations!! It looks like the cutest home. I love old homes, but can not fathom the idea of living without A/C. First world problems, I know. Even in Oregon, I don't like being hot.

I love the built-ins. And hooray for getting to just move in instead of start major renovations. :)

Yay!! Congratulations! You're like an official grown up now! ....because I guess that trumps the whole getting married and having a baby thing.

Whoo hoo!! :)

ugh my dad and my brother both bought fixer upper homes and it just seemed like a nightmare. Their work was never done! So good choice, buying the already fixed up home. It seems like a dream.

So excited for you guys and all the memories you'll have in this home!

I agree with Jackie -- Home renovation isn't for everyone, and I think it was so smart of you to go with an already fixed-up home.

Our house is just 11 years old, but it's a fixer-upper, by anyone's definition. And unfortunately, with the nature of Mr. M's job, the only thing we've gotten around to so far, is a few painted walls, in a few rooms. We have a ton of work to do ... and let me tell you ... it's overwhelming. So I'm looking forward to living vicariously through you guys! :)

HOORAY! Glass door knobs are easily one of my top ten favorite things in life. I'm SO thrilled for you guys.

oh yay! trust me, you did not want to spend all your weekends at home depot, like we do... because you really DONT spend all your weekends there- you end spending a lot, then hating your life, then abandoning all former plans for fixing up the house in a timely manner so you can just get drunk.

its a vicious cycle, this home renovating/owning thing...

This is exactly what happened to my husband & I! We were all gung ho (mostly me) about fixing a house and then we found the perfect flipped house to call home. And of course, it's a bungalow too. Affectionately called so.
Praise Jesus for our little abodes!

wow! congrats on the new house, it looks amazing!! i totally wanted to go the 'older home but totally redone inside' route, but it didn't work out for us..several failed inspections on old homes later we ended up in a newer hour....there's always next time! :)

Yay! Congrats on your new home! We have a unique older home too, but it's only 30 yrs old. The problem is ( well not so much problem but inconvenience) is that something still always needs to be fixed. A neighbor once told us, "if you're not working on something every week, you're behind". Lol. He was just trying to be funny more than anything. ;)
