Now We Just Need Chairs

Ever since Daniel and I have been married, (going on three years), we have had a minimal amount of furniture in our repertoire. Everything has either been hand-me down family pieces or Craigslist finds. (I think I bought a bath mat?) Like most twitterpated engaged couples, we had stars in our eyes and couldn't have cared less about what style bookcase would squeeze into 700 sq. ft. of apartment.

Then our living space tripled, and the rooms have literally been echoing since.

Slooooooowly it's coming along. Apparently, in today's market, curtains are as much an investment as the house itself! Thus, our spaces will be a mixture of thrift scores, antiques, diy, thoughtful splurges, and cough, replicas, cough.

Our walls are still bare, (haven't been able to commit to hanging anything just yet) and our living room is 1/47th of the way done, and we don't have any dining chairs yet because our old table was a sky high  pub table style with sky high legged chairs to match.

But my husband made me a new table!
And since we saved, oh, probably thousands and thousands of dollars, we can splurge on chairs, right?
That's how it works?

Seriously though. What kind of dining chairs? Bench? Mismatched? Tolix? Tabouret? Ghost?

P.S. Simple Dining Table DIY {here}
We used Pine, Ikea Vika Lerberg legs, and Minwax Classic Grey wood stain.

So gorgeous! A combination of DIFFERENT chairs could be fun! :) :) I think I've seen something similar. We have two fabric covered chairs and two wood ones and we get a lot of compliments on it.

Painted and upholstered chairs would be fun. Or CL a bunch of mixed chairs and paint them the same color. So many options!

it's perfect!! that is just what i want when we have a dining space one day. and yes, i think you're allowed to splurge on chairs now.. it'd be fun to have mismatched ones. i adore your house!

The table looks great, such a fun idea to make your own!

LOVE this table!! We've got a pub table too that we're not really loving anymore, and Hubby loves to make stuff so this might be perfect!

LOOOOOOOOVE this! I vote mismatched chairs all the way!
I completely understand the woes of not having furniture. We are moving back to our house in the north next week, with literally only a table and chairs to our name. No couch, no beds for the littles, nothing for the walls. So we'll embrace the bare-roomed look for awhile too :)

Love the wood table look! I was telling Verner that if we ever get a place big enough (probably won't ever happen in San Francisco), I want a wood table!!!

That's all.

I have zero creative input for the chairs part.

But I'm sure whatever you pick will look just splendid :)

I can see fabric-covered chairs working well with the minimalist table. Love the clean, sharp lines of the table.
I'd recommend against a bench: my parents had that when we were growing up and many, many a guest child fell off backward!

I love the table! And I love the idea of either benches or a bunch of the same chairs that are reupholstered with different fabrics.
